Kellogg Foundation – Michigan Racial Equity

As a part of its commitment to fostering racial equity in each of its priority grantmaking places, The W. K. Kellogg Foundation engaged Frontline Solutions to design and execute a racial equity assessment of its grantees in Michigan. Frontline conducted a landscape scan, which included a literature review, site visits, and interviews with racial equity leaders to develop a framework of organizational competencies and capacities needed to advance a place-based racial equity agenda. Frontline then developed and piloted a self-assessment tool to map out the racial equity capacities of the Michigan cohort and develop recommendations for enhancing the Michigan team’s place-based grantmaking strategy. The Kellogg Foundation is now working with Frontline to use the tool to identify capacities and design technical assistance experiences for grantees in other priority places.
