Listening to communities and organizing for action
Ryan Bowers leads ACTIVEST, a national initiative to galvanize investors, advocates and local governments toward building more responsible and equitable cities. He also directs projects at Frontline that focus on listening to communities hardest hit by inequality, expanding economic opportunity, and building equitable nonprofit organizations. Ryan joined Frontline six months after its founding as a builder of the firm’s financial model, systems and infrastructure.
Prior to leading at Frontline, Ryan assisted Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, working to ensure the voices of parents, students, and community stakeholders were heard in the development and implementation of education policy and reform. He also worked for Public/Private Ventures and taught 6th grade with Teach for America. Ryan has an undergraduate degree from Temple University and an MBA from St. Joseph’s University.
